I'm not the kinda guy that's into stocks and shares but there's something about the business suit she wears makes me wish that she could probe my affairs She's an accountant My friends say find a Hello Kitty girl instead and i know it's gonna cost me all my indie cred but i've just gotta get a taste of her good head for figures She's an accountant She could make my market rally She could make my column tally I shouldn't fancy her, but actually I do Whatcha gonna do now? And she remains the subject of my dirty dream combining an erotic with a fiscal theme but she'll only laugh at my pathetic pension scheme She's an accountant

I met a boy who looked like me from circa 1993 He said, here's a recession, where's your song? I said, these days I watch Hollyoaks The Killers seem like decent blokes I can't tell good from bad or right from wrong So I hit the university to see what they could teach to me They said, you've rather missed the boat, I fear Objective truth is so passé Facts belong to yesterday I said if that's true then why are you still here? So I went out to a club night at the coolest bar in town decided I would dance away my blues but my heart turned black when I got there The cool kids all had rubbish hair and danced to Huey Lewis and the News Then I met a man while signing on who looked like Richard Littlejohn with a similarly strange take on the facts So-called climate change and poverty were just a grand conspiracy for normal folks like him to pay more tax And then it all became quite clear I said, you blame it on the immigrants you blame it on the poor, blame anyone who's not the same as you You forgot about the bankers yeah, the greedy fucking wankers cos it's them who made this mess we're living through So be careful what you wish for and remember what they did, remember how they tore this land in two They might tell you different stories but they're still the same old Tories and they'll always put the bankers before you So give me fourth division football, indiepop and proper pubs Radio 4 on in the kitchen when it's cold outside You can keep what's superficial, you can give me David Mitchell give me anything that's heartfelt, real and kind

about

The Sweet Nothings Sheffield, UK

Peace, love, romance, railways, international socialism, and sleeping on strangers' floors in beautiful new cities after the best night of pop thrills ever.

Hello you! We're an indiepop band from Sheffield, UK. We like pretty, sparkly tunes and we like big loud noise as well, so we thought we’d try and do both at the same time. Have a listen and see what you reckon.

There now. Nice cup of tea?
